Version 1.0 - Last updated: 3 November 2026
This End User Licence Agreement (“EULA”) governs your use of the compiled PocketTools application distributed by Jericho Crosby (Chalwk) through Google Play (the “App”). It licenses the compiled App only and grants no rights in the App’s source code, which is not published.
By installing or using the App, you agree to this EULA. If you do not agree, do not install or use the App.
This EULA is between you and Jericho Crosby (Chalwk) (“the Developer”). Google, which operates Google Play, is not a party to it and has no obligations to you under it.
1. Licence granted
Subject to your compliance with this EULA, the Developer grants you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, non-sublicensable licence to install and run the App on devices that you own or control, for personal use and for other non-commercial purposes. The App is free, and the Developer does not charge for this licence.
You may obtain the App only from Google Play. Copies from any other source are not licensed under this EULA.
For the avoidance of doubt, this licence includes the right to:
(a) use the App for personal utility tasks, including at home, at work, or at school, subject to whatever rules apply at that location;
(b) install the App on shared devices owned or controlled by you or your household; and
(c) use the outputs of the App (for example, a generated password, a sorted list, or a date calculation) in whatever way you choose, including in commercial or professional work, provided you do not present the App itself as your own.
2. Restrictions
You may not, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits and that cannot be excluded by agreement:
(a) copy, reproduce, distribute, sublicense, rent, lease, lend, or sell the App or any part of it, other than installing it from Google Play as described in Section 1;
(b) modify, adapt, translate, or create derivative works of the App;
(c) reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the App, or attempt to derive its source code from the compiled form;
(d) remove, obscure, or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notice in or on the App;
(e) sell, charge for, or otherwise commercialise the App or access to it, or include it as part of a paid product or service; or
(f) use the name “PocketTools” (or any confusingly similar name), the App’s icon, or other brand assets in connection with any modified version, derivative work, or other product or service.
3. Ownership and third-party components
The App, including all intellectual property rights in it (including its password-generation, list-sorting, and date-arithmetic logic, and its source code), is and remains the property of the Developer. This EULA grants you a limited licence to use the App. It does not transfer ownership of any kind.
The App includes third-party open-source software, which is licensed under its own terms. Notices for that software are available in the App’s About screen. Nothing in this EULA limits your rights under those licences.
4. Privacy
The App collects no personal data, and does not write any user data to persistent storage. See the Privacy Policy (https://chalwk.github.io/pages/policies/PocketTools/PRIVACY/), which forms part of this EULA.
5. Updates and changes
The Developer may release updates, bug fixes, or new versions of the App at any time and at their sole discretion. The Developer is not obliged to provide updates, support, or maintenance.
Updated versions may be governed by an updated EULA. Where an update materially reduces your rights under this EULA, you may decline the update, continue to use the version you have (subject to any changes required by Google Play’s terms), or stop using the App and uninstall it. Continued use of an updated version after you are shown the new EULA constitutes acceptance of it.
6. Termination
This EULA is effective until terminated. You may terminate it at any time by uninstalling the App. The Developer may terminate it only if you materially breach it. On termination you must stop using the App and delete all copies in your possession or control. Sections 2, 3, 7, 8, 9, and 10 survive termination.
7. No warranty
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App is provided “AS IS” and “AS AVAILABLE”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including the warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.
The App is a set of convenience utilities. It is provided for convenience only. The Developer does not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or available at any particular time. The Developer also does not warrant that:
- date arithmetic results are accurate for your purposes, including across time zones, daylight-saving transitions, or unusual calendar systems;
- list sorting, deduplication, or formatting will preserve data in exactly the way you expect, particularly for non-English text, mixed scripts, or unusual Unicode; or
- passwords generated by the App are cryptographically secure, suitable for any particular service, or otherwise fit for any particular purpose.
You should not rely on the App as your only source of password generation, and you should use a dedicated password manager for long-term credential storage.
The App does not transmit your inputs anywhere, but it does use Android’s
standard mechanisms (including rememberSaveable and the system clipboard) to
preserve on-screen state across configuration changes and to let you copy
results out. Those mechanisms are not under the Developer’s control, and the
Developer is not responsible for any leakage that results from them.
Pre-release (beta) builds, such as those offered through Google Play testing tracks, are provided for testing and may be less stable than full releases.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, the Developer is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of data, time, or opportunity, arising out of or in connection with your use of or inability to use the App. This includes, without limitation, any loss arising from a password generated by the App being compromised, from date-arithmetic results being inaccurate, or from a sorted list being incorrect.
Nothing in this EULA excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law, including (where applicable) the New Zealand Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 and the Fair Trading Act 1986, or consumer laws in the country where you live.
9. General
If any provision of this EULA is found unenforceable, it will be applied to the maximum extent permitted and the remaining provisions stay in effect. Failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. This EULA, together with the Privacy Policy, is the entire agreement between you and the Developer about the App.
10. Governing law
This EULA is governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any dispute arising out of or in connection with it is subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the New Zealand courts. This does not take away any mandatory consumer protections you have under the laws of the country where you live.
