Glentanner Station (NZGT)
Private alpine strip on the shore of Lake Pukaki. Base for The Helicopter Line and Air Safaris.
Overview
Glentanner Station is a private airstrip at the northern end of Lake Pukaki, near the entrance to the Mount Cook valley. It is the main base for The Helicopter Line’s Mount Cook operations (open 8am-5pm daily) and Air Safaris scenic flights. Prior approval is required. It is a key alternative to NZMC when the valley is busy.

Elevation

Local Procedures
- Prior permission required (private strip).
- Weather minima: 1,000 ft ceiling and 8 km visibility.
- Overhead joins: Advised for fixed-wing.
- Circuit: RWY 15 left-hand, RWY 33 right-hand. Downwind at 2,800 ft (Todo: verify).
- Visibility on ground: Aircraft at the far end of the runway cannot be seen when lining up.
- Standard mountain one-way operations.
Hazards
- High terrain immediately west of the field.
- Shifty crosswinds gusting down Twin Stream.
- Severe turbulence in westerlies and southwesterlies.
- Significant runway cross-slope.
- Lake outflow wind.
- Alpine weather change.
